Tom Warren

Tom Warren, a postulant in the Diocese of East Carolina, is in his second year of the M.Div. program at Duke Divinity School.

He and his wife, Holly, have been attending Church of the Holy Family since the Fall of 2008 when they moved to Durham to pursue theological education and internal medicine residency training, respectively.

Tom is also doing his field education placement at Church of the Holy Family where he assists in the Sunday assembly services, helps out with the EYC, and will be preaching and leading some Christian Education forums in the Spring. This past summer Tom was a chaplain intern at Duke University Medical Center where he served on the neurology intensive care and step-down/floor units as well as in the Emergency Department.

Tom was born and raised in Cheverly, MD, (a suburb of Washington, DC), but 'home' has been Snow Hill, NC, ever since he and his family moved there in 1996. He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2003, was commissioned as an officer, and served on active duty for five years as a student engineer on a polar icebreaker and an environmental emergency response officer.

While parish ministry appears to be his immediate calling, he and Holly have also been drawn to overseas mission opportunities and have a particular affinity for the people of Haiti.

When not actively engaged in theological studies and church activities, Tom enjoys rollerblading with his fox hound, Lazlo, gardening, being a locavore, and following/playing most sports.
